Risk management is often treated as a checklist exercise rather than a core part of project decision-making. This interactive session will explore how RAID management can be used to drive meaningful conversations and better outcomes, and how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly to support and strengthen this process.

Participants will work collaboratively to build a RAID log for a sample project and then explore how techniques such as qualitative risk analysis, quantitative risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulation can enhance understanding of project uncertainty. The session will demonstrate how AI can be used to generate insights, challenge assumptions and steer risk discussions, while also highlighting the difference between a human-created RAID and an AI-enhanced RAID, including both the benefits and the limitations.

The key message is that AI can make risk management more efficient and more insightful, but it should never replace professional judgement or stakeholder engagement. Risk management remains a human activity, grounded in collaboration, culture and informed decision-making.

This highly interactive session introduces RAID management and what it really means for project delivery. Participants will collaboratively create a RAID log for a realistic project scenario and then explore how structured analytical techniques can be used to strengthen risk understanding.

The session will demonstrate how digital tools can generate and analyse risks, apply qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and produce a QSRA view of project risk. Participants will compare “before” and “after” versions of the RAID to understand how insight can be enhanced while also recognising where outputs can be misleading or dangerous if relied upon without challenge.

Throughout the session, emphasis will be placed on risk as a discussion and decision-making tool rather than a static document.
