Collaboration is one of the most talked-about - and least understood - aspects of project delivery. We all know it matters, we all say we’re doing it. But the reality is often far messier.

This panel goes beyond the usual buzzwords to explore what collaboration actually looks like in practice - particularly in complex environments shaped by regulation, legacy behaviours, competing priorities, and organisational boundaries.

Drawing on real-world experience across major projects and programmes, our panellists will unpack the good, the bad, and the ugly side of collaboration. 

When it works well, what’s really happening beneath the surface? When it breaks down, what are the early warning signs? And when does collaboration go too far - becoming slow, diluted, or counterproductive?

We’ll explore both best practice and “what not to do” examples, from projects and scenarios where collaboration has driven performance, to those where it has quietly undermined progress.

Panelists

Lisa Martello

Lisa is a Director at ResoLex, a strategic advisory consultancy specialising in strengthening the social, behavioural and cultural components crucial to achieving desired outcomes within major project environments. A project manager by trade, Lisa has more than 15 years’ experience leading and supporting major construction projects in the UK and Australia. Her projects have included airports, stations, bridges and viaducts, power and cooling, behavioural change, and facilities upgrades.

Lisa holds a degree in management, IT and Spanish from the University of York, and a master’s degree in project and enterprise management from UCL, as well as several project management qualifications.

Linda Jardine

Linda is a senior member of our specialist Project Management team based in Glasgow. She joined the team in 2014 and works closely with many of our clients, specialising in the management and delivery of complex implementation and organisational change projects.  

Linda has been involved in numerous projects including full services transitions, large and complex scheme merger and consolidation projects, new DC trust set-ups, scheme closures, implementation of new DC master trusts, journey to buy-out and GMP equalisation.  Linda is also New Business Operational Lead for the firm.  

Outside of work Linda enjoys running and boxing training. She also loves her regular fishing trips across Scotland and regular trips stateside to visit family in Oklahoma. 

Rohit Malhotra

Rohit Malhotra is a chartered Construction Project Manager at AtkinsRéalis, recognised for driving collaboration, communication and inclusive team culture across complex, multi‑disciplinary complex infrastructure projects. As the ED&I Lead for the Bristol office, he plays a key role in shaping psychologically safe, culturally aware working environments that enable people to contribute openly and work effectively across boundaries. Rohit is also a multi‑award‑winning early‑career professional, named CIOB Rising Star 2025 and BTF Young Project Manager of the Year, and has been shortlisted for several national honours including the APM Emerging Project Professional Award, AFBE Mentor of the Year and CESW G4C Future Leader.

Alongside project delivery, Rohit regularly speaks at universities, industry panels, podcasts and community events, sharing insights on his journey in project management to inspire the next generation of project professionals. His people‑centred approach and commitment to developing future talent make him a standout voice on collaboration, inclusivity and modern project professionalism.
