Real World Project Management Webinar - From Accidental PM to a Trusted Leader

Did you accidentally fall into project management or was it by choice? This webinar will describe the fall, getting up, dusting off and the eventual rise to senior Leader.

Not many people know what they want to do in their lives, careers ebb and flow whilst life goes on around us, one minute busy and wanted, another on the bench. Then one day, everything changes, almost by accident and you enter the world of project management.

Now I can honestly never ever remember thinking, “I want to spend my life chasing actions, decoding risk registers, questioning Gantt charts, and dealing with people who blame me for everything.” But before I knew it, I had a project title, a room full of stakeholders, no clear scope, a deadline agreed before anyone understood the work, and a sponsor who thought governance was something that happened in Westminster.

As part of this webinar, I will briefly share my personal and professional journey from “accidental PM” to trusted senior leader. Drawing on experience across defence, aerospace, infrastructure, consultancy, and complex organisational transformation.

As part of the fun, I will introduce you to some of the characters I met along the way, Our friend Donkey, Bongo, the Whisperer, Lucifer, and Big GB.

I will also outline how you can move from an ‘Accidental Project manager to a trusted leader”. Some tips, some tricks, when to stick or twist, when staying quiet is hurting and how to identify a toxic environment.

This webinar is aimed at project professionals at all stages of their careers, especially those who found themselves in project management unexpectedly and now want to understand how that an accidental beginning can become the foundation for a purposeful and successful leadership journey and career.

Please come along, serious topics told with the usual sense of humour and honesty.

Perfect for anyone who fell into project management, survived the landing, and now wants to rise with confidence, humour, and credibility.
