APM AI and Data Analytics Interest Network - AI for PMs: From Research Insight to Real-World Impact
AI is already changing project delivery. Join this practical, interactive session to understand what is real, what is hype, and how project professionals can use AI responsibly.
Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday project management practice, but project professionals are not always using the same language, assumptions or level of confidence when they talk about AI. This webinar will explore what AI means for the project profession now, and what it may require from project managers in the future.
Structured as one connected conversation, the session will bring together academic insight, practitioner experience and audience views. Nancy Khialani will frame the discussion through research-informed themes around how project professionals understand, define and use AI, and how AI may support better long-term and more sustainable project decisions. James Garner will lead discussion on Use, Govern and Decide, exploring where AI is being applied in delivery, who is accountable for its use, and where human judgement should challenge or override AI-supported outputs. Mark Barnett is proposed to lead Skills and Systems, considering the knowledge, behaviours and competencies project professionals will need, and how AI changes roles, processes and the wider project environment.
Audience interaction will be built in through five to six short Mentimeter questions introduced at relevant points in the discussion, covering understanding of AI, current use, governance, accountability, human judgement, skills and longer-term value. Attendees will leave with a clearer view of the AI questions that matter for project professionals, and practical prompts for moving from interest and experimentation to responsible use. All named contributors and speakers will be attributed appropriately.
