Dr Lois Liao - Social Scientist and Technologist, East2046
Dr Lois Liao is a social scientist and technologist working across housing, creative practice and AI. She holds a mathematics degree from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in Housing Studies from UCL (The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction). She has led AI projects in the sector, including an industry-partnered AI toolkit that helps housing policymakers in New Zealand decide how and where to build, and has a forthcoming paper in Economy and Society on credit-scoring and mortgage algorithms in the private rented sector. She is Co-founder of EAST2046 CIC, CTO and Co-founder of DAOCreatech, and co-leads Data Art at London Data Week, a public initiative of the Mayor of London, The Alan Turing Institute and LOTI. She taught quantitative methods at the University of Sheffield and LSE, where she was Deputy Director of the LSE MSc in Real Estate Economics and Finance from 2019 to 2022.
