APM Australia’s formal launch will bring together project professionals, employers and industry leaders for an evening focused on the future of the project profession in Australia. Building on the momentum of the Victoria Network’s first event, the evening will introduce APM’s role, its chartered standard and the opportunity to build a stronger professional community across Australia. A short formal programme will set out the ambition for APM in Australia and include an invited industry or government speaker, followed by substantial time for conversation and networking. The event is designed to connect people across sectors and career stages, raise the profile of the profession and create practical links between practitioners, employers, educators and professional bodies. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of APM, the value of professional recognition and how they can help shape the network’s next stage of growth.

This event marks the formal launch of APM Australia and the next stage in establishing a visible, credible and connected professional community. The evening will combine a concise formal launch programme with generous networking time in a cocktail-style rooftop setting.

Sue Simmonite - Global Project Management & Control Director, BAE Systems

Sue Simmonite is the Global Project Management & Control Director for BAE Systems. She has been with BAE Systems for 31 years with experience across a range of complex projects in different sectors and business units leading on Project Control, Project Management, Contract Closure and Business Integration, having joined initially as a Business Modern Apprentice.

Operating within the Chief Technology Information Office based in the UK, Sue works across many different cultures and geographies to provide the enabling Project Management & Control capabilities to achieve operational excellence in projects, programmes and portfolios.

Sue is actively engaged in operational support to the global Portfolios, Programmes and Projects through Chairing key independent reviews such as Integrated Baseline Reviews and Phase Reviews. Sue also is the corporate sponsor for all senior PM leadership programmes working closely with thought leaders in this area in academia.

Sue is the company sponsor for the Association for Project Management (APM), the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the UK Major Projects Association (MPA) and achieved recognition as an APM Fellow as well as having been recognised internally as one of the inaugural BAE Systems PM Fellows. In 2024, Sue was successfully re-elected to the APM Board of Trustees and continues as their Deputy Chair.
