APM Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Network: White Rose Forest Site Visit
Woodland Creation Project Management - Woodland Establishment Phase (post planting)
This event will focus how White Rose Forest (WRF) and the landowner (Leeds University) are navigating the woodland establishment period.
This period is post-planting and can take up to 15 years to ensure that the woodland is established as a functioning habitat and will need to consider arrange of issues including:
- Climate change (including significant events)
- Pests & diseases
- Tree health & vitality
- Funding issues
- Changes in priorities/objectives (15 years is a long time!)
We also want to highlight how WRF has established the resources to deliver a large scale programme – and unusually in forestry/land management has a team that is 50/50 male/female – and to consider the impacts on their work.
