APM Midlands Network: Evolving the Project Profession: Developing Skills, Influence and Professional Recognition

The project profession continues to evolve, with project professionals increasingly expected to demonstrate adaptability, leadership, strategic thinking and continuous professional development. This event explores how individuals at all career stages can develop the skills, knowledge and professional recognition needed to thrive in a changing environment.

Through insights from experienced project professionals and interactive discussion, attendees will explore how career development, professional recognition, APM membership, chartership and lifelong learning can support long-term success. The session will provide practical perspectives on navigating today's project landscape, building credibility and preparing for the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of the profession.

The role of the project professional is changing. Digital transformation, emerging technologies, sustainability, hybrid working and increasing stakeholder expectations are reshaping how projects are delivered and how professionals develop their careers.

This event brings together experienced practitioners to discuss how project professionals can remain relevant, adaptable and effective throughout their careers.

Through speaker insights, practical examples and audience discussion, attendees will:

  • Explore how the project profession is evolving and what this means for future career development.
  • Understand how professional recognition, including APM membership and chartership, can support credibility and career progression.
  • Learn how APM resources, communities and development pathways can help build capability at every career stage.

Speaker: George W E Agiru, BA, MSc (PM), MAPM, ChPP, Project Manager, Transport for London

I’m a chartered project professional with more than 10 years’ experience of project delivery. Most of my experience has been in the transport sector. I have taken particular interest in sustainability in projects. I successfully trialled a zero-emissions-site and delivered to time, budget and quality. It’s therefore no surprise that I’m an advocate for zero emissions construction sites. I spend my spare time volunteering as a trainer, coach and mentor, helping both established and emerging project professionals. I also volunteer with my local community and the APM. I have recently taken up a volunteering role with APM as Deputy Lead for the Midlands Regional Network

George W E Agiru

Speaker: Robert Allen, Partnership Development Manager, APM

As a Partnership Development Manager (PDM), I work closely with our corporate partners across a range of key sectors to help them maximise the value of their relationship with APM.

I support organisations and individuals in developing their project management capability through APM qualifications, membership, and Chartered status. I also work with partners to showcase their expertise by providing opportunities to share their knowledge, experiences, and success stories through APM events, conferences, and other engagement activities.
